This position supports the American Red Cross team to engage, educate and champion SAF regional programs available to military and veteran communities and military partners.

The position requires performing outreach activities for the Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) programs through internal and community partnerships. 

A volunteer will be able to understand the mission of SAF programs specifically related to:

  1. Hero Care Network (HCN)
  2. Behavioral Health Workshops
  3. Military Treatment Facility Programs (MTF)
  4. VA & State Homes Support and Volunteer Programs
  5. Whole Health
  6. Military and Veteran Caregiver Network (MVCN)

This role is a combination of outreach, education, and networking.  A volunteer is to provide outreach aimed at ensuring that military families and military partners understand the resources available to them through SAF.

To be successful in this role, a volunteer will:

  1. Conduct presentations on SAF programs and services.
  2. Provide additional regional outreach support, as appropriate.
  3. Understand and apply SAF policies, procedures and protocols related to American Red Cross client services consistently and correctly
  4. Maintain strict confidentiality of private personal information in accordance with American Red Cross policies
  5. Maintain professionalism and conduct as stated in American Red Cross policy

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  • Willing and able to support the American Red Cross SAF mission 
  • Ability to work independently or with a team 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a public setting and comfortable presenting to large and small audiences  
  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer to include phone, personal computer and internet connection. 
  • Good computer skills to include use of Internet search tools; internet, Microsoft Office Suite, to include Outlook, and word-processing 
  • Ability to interact effectively with culturally diverse audiences  
  • Flexible and able to adapt quickly to schedule changes 
  • Knowledge of American Red Cross policy and willingness to comply with American Red Cross policies and public health requirements
  • A general working knowledge of military resources 

Recommended and/or preferred:

  • Experience working with military families and veteran populations
