Volunteer: Friends of Scouting TeamThe Boy Scouts of America has earned the reputation over the years of being one of the premier charitable organizations in the traditional annual giving campaign arena. The annual enrollment campaign called Friends of Scouting has evolved from the successful experience of local councils. Friends of Scouting has become the largest source of income for our council. Objective: To have a Friends of Scouting campaign presentation to each unit to tell our story and share our needs to these potential donors from the families in each unit within the district so that we raise the Friends of Scouting goal by June 30. Responsibilities: Attends the presenter orientation meeting. Contacts the assigned units and confirms the date, time, and location of the presentation. Works with unit to set a goal of 100 percent family participation. Makes the unit presentation to each of the assigned units. Turns in prospect cards to campaign manager or district family chairman in a timely manner after the presentation. Contributes to the Friends of Scouting campaign.There are opportunities for leadership in various parts of the campaign. Our most common volunteer position is the above description.

1. Plans and promotes a well-balanced schedule of district events, and recruits teams to carry them out.
2. Decides how Scouting can become involved in selected needs and interests of communities in the district. Helps Scouting units take part in community service projects in such a manner that youth members learn qualities of good citizenship.
3. Plans and promotes service projects at a district and unit level.
4. Promotes and assists with the planning of council events (such as the council show or Eagle Scout or Silver Award dinner).
5. Promotes and carries out the district’s share of national events (such as Scouting Anniversary Week or a national jamboree).
6. Conducts an annual poll of unit leaders to determine unit needs and interests for district activities. Be sure the committee includes people familiar with Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Sea Scouting, and Venturing.
