Volunteer: Member of the Board for the Fond du Lac Humane SocietyMember of the Board of Directors Job Description Mission Statement: The Fond du Lac Humane Society is dedicated to providing humane care and treatment to all animals needing protection, and to enhancing the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and compassion. Summary: All members of the Board of Directors of the Fond du Lac Humane Society are an integral part of the leadership of the organization. The Board of Directors provides vision, direction, policy, and oversight of the Humane Society fiscally, strategically, and operationally. They are a key part of the face of the organization in the community. Board members will contribute to all aspects of the organization by reviewing and contributing to monthly reports, proposing ideas to further the shelter mission, and participate in Humane Society activities. All members of the Board of Directors will carry out the needs of the organization as outlined in the By-Laws. Responsibilities: Attend meetings of the Board, coming prepared and ready to discuss agenda items Review all monthly reports and bring questions, comments, and concerns to meetings Honor confidentiality of all shelter business Be active in bringing ideas forward or be an active participant in executing ideas Promote and represent the Humane Society in the community Vote on matters brought to the Board as described in the By-Laws Help identify connections in the community that will further the organizations fundraising efforts and promote a positive community image Be a member in good standing of the Fond du Lac Humane Society’s Membership Program Time Commitment: Attend monthly board meetings held on the 4th Monday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Humane Society Volunteer for special events and other needs of the shelter Terms for Members of the Board of Directors run for 3 years Note: This position description is not meant to be all inclusive.
