Job responsibilities:
Consistently filling grocery carts with food items for guests; may also help load bags of groceries into the trunks of guests’ vehicles; clean-up
Skills Needed:
Must be physically capable of consistently lifting 10-20 lbs, being on the move, on your feet during the duration of the distribution
At this time, masks are recommended, but not required. Our volunteers will be working on the North end of our building and will have little to no contact with our guests. Our guests will be entering the South end of our building to check in and get a pick-up number to then drive around to the North end of the building to have their food loaded into the trunk of their vehicle.
If wanting to volunteer, must go to www.rubyspantry.org and fill out an on-line application. A background check will also be done for all applicants. Both the application and background check must be completed and approved BEFORE the night of the distribution. If volunteering in a group, please let us know ahead of time how many will be in your group, so we can make sure all applications and background checks have been approved as well as for our planning purposes. Once your application is approved and your background check is complete, we will be sending you a monthly e-mail, where you will be able to RSVP for future distributions.
Our minimum age requirement is 10 years. 10-12 year old volunteers MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT for the duration of the distribution. Teen volunteers 13 years and older will not need to be accompanied by an adult. All volunteers under the age of 18 must fill out an on-line application and be approved to volunteer BEFORE the night of the distribution.
