In the event of a disaster, any spontaneous volunteers who arrive at a disaster scene will be directed to the VRC (Volunteer Reception Center), where they will screened and matched with a volunteer opportunity at the disaster scene. The VRC is staffed by another group of volunteers who assemble immediately after a disaster to run the VRC.
We are always recruiting volunteers to join our VRC team. In the event of a disaster, they will utilize a phone tree to notify other volunteer staff and will assemble at the designated location. They will interview, screen and match volunteers with volunteer opportunities.
Please respond to this need if you are interested in joining our VRC team. Trainings are ongoing and held every 6 months to prepare staff for their role in case of a disaster.
